There has been a lot of interest in this painting in the last few days....today is the anniversary of the day we lost our dad, forever changing our lives...I was lucky that I was able to trot alongside my dad alot of the time...all I wanted to be was a cowgirl! Thus why I paint what I do and why certain things capture my attention. Here is what I wrote about the painting when I did it a few years ago.
"What caught my attention about this scene was the compassion between the two figures,” says Marsha Lehmann, “Daddy’s gentle hand just barely holding on, but balancing, with patience in his steps so small and the little buckaroo with head held high, ready to take on anything in life with the confidence gained from a father’s hand…. I titled this piece I Wanna Be Like You—at first glance it seems obvious that the little one wants to be like Dad, but sometimes as adults we long for our childhood faith.”

At the right of this blog there is a tab that will take
you directly to the information at Greenwich Workshop Gallery's sight.
The painting sold at their gallery and the prints are sold out and on
secondary market. It was a pleasure to work with Greenwich Workshop Publishing, wonderful company. I also had contacts from wonderful Frameshops and Galleries around the US asking about new work, it is quite a kick to see my profile on these wonderful sights!
