Harvey Rattey - 1938-2015 One of the great western artists....

Harvey Rattey  NDHSRA Finals, Bowman ND  2010

Harvey Rattey, fellow artists and collectors
It is with much sadness I post this about a wonderful western artist and a truly good man.

I learned today that Harvey Rattey, Glendive MT Sculpture passed away Dec. 7. I was recommending Harvey and his wife Pamela Harr, another wonderful artist for an interview, knowing their rich life they have led from Bozeman to their ranch at Glendive, would be a great read when I learned he had passed.

We met Harvey at the Prairie Skies Art Show & Auction held by
Nola Helms and the ND Nurses Association at the Ramada in Bismarck quite a few years ago. Our art booth was in the room next to Harvey's and there was constant laughing, joking and stories - in between happenings, we got to know a kind and wonderful man  then later learned how collected this man and his wife's work was and the collections their work is in left quite an impression.

For all their accolades, accomplishments and collectors they made...Harvey was always down to earth and an air about him that you would never know - for example, upon being asked,  Harvey judged the local art show in Bowman, graciously hauling all his work to display for one day (not an easy thing, those bronzes are big and heavy) He then came down again in 2010 and displayed his work at the Bowman Library over the N.D. High School Rodeo Finals in June.

The western art world has lost a great one not to mention the loss to his family. Our condolences to Pamela and their family.

Be sure to check out his and Pamela's work at the link below, they always complimented each other so well, such a rarity to have husband wife team of sculptors and each be so accomplished, Pamela has a resume as long and as great as Harvey's- he was so proud of her and his family and all they accomplished.

I'm guessing there is a little more laughing and story spinning in Heaven today.

God Bless you Harvey for your vision, your hard work ethic, your wonderful success with your art, yours & Pam's family and your beautiful work! Go rest high on that Mountain.
