Dakota Gold ....Antelope Buck

With the recent oil activity putting North Dakota on the map....
coinciding with the low numbers of antelope in southwestern North Dakota for a few years after the harsh winters we’ve had....
thought  “Dakota Gold” was a good title.
This buck was a loner, hanging out this last summer with a doe and her twins for awhile, then back and forth through the pastures near the cattle in the area.
Finding it difficult to get really nice photos of antelope, I felt fortunate to get several photos of him.
The photo I painted this original from was taken at 8 pm July 25

He was running through the prairie flowers....

as the sun dipped low, painting the North Dakota Prairie with it's wide brush

of the golden hour color  ......

“Dakota Gold”.
